Citizen Jake

Last week Jake received the Super Citizen certificate at this school. It's an award they give out at Laie Elementary in recognition of turning your homework in on time, raising your hand, and not beating up other students. We celebrated this special occasion by getting a picture of Jake, his certificate, his lovely mother, and a local area man eating an ice cream cone.

As part of the package, parents are expected to buy large amounts of candy from schoolyard vendors to present to their kids. We didn't want Jake to feel left out so we got him some candy as well. But in an unexpected twist, when he got home the candy was confiscated by the candy fairy, who then proceeded to eat most of it while lying on the couch watching the Cowboys-Giants game.

What is up with people in Laie? It looks as if what that man is eating is actually a microphone!

You know what I thought when I saw that candy lei? CAVITITES!!! That's how you think when you don't have good dental insurance. But, when those cavities are just transfered on up the line, it does no good, so go brush your teeth!

P.S. Thanks for finally posting a picture of the baby belly. And (I shouldn't mention it) Kaddi's cute sunglasses. I feel your pain, girl.

On looking at the photo a second time, it's either a microphone or an ice cream cone with a long extension cord.

That is one of many unique aspects of Hawaii. At every type of social function there is an MC who announces everything that is going on. Our Halloween activity at the church was the exact same way. It makes it impossible to carry ona conversation with someone because you've got those loudspeakers blaring at you.

It takes a confident Cowboys fan to call himself a 'fairy'.

Good one.
